I also found the accompanying video of Todd Rundgren singing this song very touching because Todd struck me as a guy at that time who was not all that comfortable in his own skin, yet he was still true to himself, regardless of his discomfort.

I sensed that his courage to just be himself was difficult, but he chose to be true to himself anyway.

And that was in the 70s...when people were a lot less accepting of the unusual or eccentric.

And your "personal communication system" is your Intuition. I just happened to be watching one of those real life crime shows the other night on television, you know, one of those programs which usually involves a murder and the television program traces the story from beginning to end. I think it was Dateline NBC.

Anyway, my television was on, and although I use to love watching shows like this years ago, I had not seen this type of show in quite a while, mainly because I now watch very little television.

Something, (my intuition perhaps?), told me to watch this show on this particular evening, and I was so glad that I did. The show was very typical, a husband who murdered his wife. Instead of getting into the details of the murder, I immediately started to notice that just about every person connected to the crime victim, were given numerous signs, hunches, red flags, etc. that something was not quite right, but they chose to ignore them.

I am sure that those of you who are fans of this type of show know what I am speaking of. The victim, the victim's relatives and friends, were all given numerous signs that there was something "off" or things did not quite add up in regard to the victim's husband, or had "uncomfortable or suspicious feelings" about the husband, but they chose to ignore their inner guidance aka their hunches, premonitions, signs, red flags, etc., and as a result the victim was murdered by the husband.

And although we can never know, since the victim is now dead, I am sure that she was the number one person receiving all types of "red flags" and warning signs from the Universe via her inner guidance and intuition...which she tragically chose to ignore.

That is an extreme example as to what can happen when we ignore our inner guidance, (which is another name for our common sense), but it is important nevertheless.

This web page, in addition to other pages on this website, was created to help you to first identify with your intuition and inner guidance, and then to begin working with it for your daily benefit.

It is there for a reason and it is there to help and benefit you.

The Universe/Source/Creator/Higher Self/God...whatever name you prefer, sends us messages all the time via our intuition and inner guidance or "personal communication system" but most of us fail to listen to this wisdom and guidance, and this makes our lives extremely difficult and can sometimes lead to tragic consequences.

Here Is A Great Writing On Intuition By Intuitive Expert: Blanche Blacke

What would the world look like if we all had a highly developed intuition?

What is intuition? How does it influence our destiny, and what about free will?

Intuitive perception, like the other five senses, is stronger in some people than in others and is experienced in different ways. One person might see images flash onto the screen of the mind's eye. Another might feel physical sensations in the body. One CEO of a major corporation makes business decisions by imagining that the situation is food and checks if it "tastes" right.

Intuition comes in many forms. In my work as an energy healer, I have delineated four forms of intuition, based on the chakras (energy vortexes) which influence them. These different energies are gut feeling, intuition, psychic perception and akashic records reading.

Gut Feeling

The rawest and most immediate is gut feeling, a third chakra intuition. The information a person receives this way usually in the form of warnings, are based on survival and are often felt physically. A person perceives in the first chakra, "Does this situation represent danger or benefit?" The energy moves to the second chakra, "How does this relate to my desires?" and culminates in the third chakra, a regulator of action. Information from the first and second chakras distill and move to the second chakra (our gut), prompting the body/mind to react. An internal question is posed: " I perceive this thing; I think it means this to me. Should I act or do nothing?"

As an example, successful stock traders often have fine-tuned gut intuition. They just know when to buy and when to sell. The energies in the trading pit feel very much like war. Survival is key. The same sort of intuition might warn a person not to board a plane. Statistics prove, about 40% of the expected passenger list don't board a plane that ultimately crashes. What about those souls who chose to fly? Were their gut feelings blocked and did not sense danger? Did the rational mind step in and "think" them to their death? Or did they not get the warning because, karmically, it was time to transcend?

True Intuition

The next form is what I call true intuition. The sixth chakra, or third eye, seems to be the true intuition center. Sixth chakra intuition is a very personal vibration a tapping into one's personal calling and receiving guidance from a higher power. The energy and vibrations of this type of guidance are much different from third chakra gut feeling. Third chakra intuition is me-driven and survivalist. Sixth chakra energy is closer to the vibrations of the seventh chakra of spiritual connection. The sixth chakra translates higher forms of energy into personal guidance and is separated from desire, the need for power, revenge, lust or greed. Sixth chakra intuition is the energy of being at the right place at the right time just knowing what to do.

Psychic Impression

The next form of intuition is psychic perception, a seventh chakra phenomenon. In this type of intuition, a person has raised their own vibrations high enough to tap into the universal mind in a direct way and "tune in," like a radio, to another person's energies. Either they perceive pictures and/or the information gets channeled in words. This form is future orientated and most related to the traditional view of the psychic reader. Most people who have this gift are born with it. However, these abilities can be developed.

Akashic Records Readings

The next type is the reading of akashic records. Edgar Cayce read the akashic records of the soul. He said each soul's records are kept on tablets which he could "see" in his mind's eye. These tablets contain all of a soul's life lessons, past present and future. He gave what he called Life Readings for people, many of whom came to him for physical healing. Akashic records contain information about a soul's karma. Karma is the concept that every action (or thought) creates energy that will produce a result in this or future lifetimes. If we correlate karma to physics, we would say that every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. Because human beings are packages of energy, these laws logically apply to our emotional and spiritual lives as well as our physical bodies.

Being able to access the psychic information of akashic records would mean that a person's seventh chakra is open to receiving information from the higher spiritual planes and translating it in the sixth chakra or third eye. A person who has sufficiently raised the vibrations of their own energy field can bring this energy into the sixth chakra and use it for a purpose.

Lillian Irene Lovas, who has a gift for reading the akashic records, says that the accessing of this information is achieved by one soul's connection to the oversoul. She allows her own ego to step aside and become centered, in a prayerful way, to another's akashic records to give them spiritual guidance.

Developing Intuition

If a person wants to develop their intuition and open up the sixth chakra, one must be dedicated to utmost truth. One can no longer allow oneself to be blind or in denial. It is hard, in a social situation, when one gets psychic information about another person, such as "They're lying." Getting intuitive information about your own motives that don't match your view of self is also difficult. What is true is not always what we would like to see.

The next and most important step in developing intuition is to give up control. This is probably the most difficult thing for the ego to do. Many who have gone through a near death experience "come back" psychic or intuitive in some way. The common denominator between most all near death experiencers is one thing surrender. To surrender, one must also detach from any personal desire for a specific result or outcome. Any person who manipulates people and uses passive aggressive behaviors in order to influence or control others will have a difficult time developing higher intuitive abilities.

How does one learn to surrender? One way to begin is to start looking at what motivates your choices. How much do you need to control yourself and others? Carolyn Myss says most people seek intuitive gifts for three reasons: "so they don't make a mistake, don't get hurt, and it doesn't cost them any money" (Energy Anatomy, Sounds True Audio, 1996). These motivations have a lot to do with manipulation and control and overlook the higher power.

Surrender and learn how to listen. Look for clues of higher guidance, often in the form of a strong compelling idea that seems to come from outside of you. Be willing to act without needing to figure out the outcome first. When one is being called to do something from a higher source and follows the guidance with complete trust, the results can be miraculous. Less than a year after my near death experience, I discovered a gift for healing because I surrendered.

So what about destiny and free will? Many assume that destiny is the future pre-determined, set in stone and unavoidable. They either believe in that or not and based on that belief, either they seek psychic advice or they don't. If we broaden our view of destiny, we can benefit more from intuitive guidance. Destiny is real, but not set in stone. Free will is our power of choice. Intuition is connected to free will in that one chooses from an internal source rather than an external source. Be conscious of what is motivating you.

Consider your destiny as a path stretched before you. You take a step in a direction and the path unfolds like a progression to a goal. Like throwing a pebble into the water, ripples are created that extend into the future to a specific place. That's one's destiny, based upon a progression of the current choices one makes or steps one takes. A true psychic can "see" this path. However, we have the free will to influence this path at any time by taking a step in another direction. Then a different destiny stretches forward from that point onward a completely different destiny. As a being of free will, we do not have to keep walking the same path. Personal intuition or good spiritual guidance can be invaluable in assessing current choices. A catastrophe or illness can be avoided by making different choices. On the other hand, good fortune might not materialize because a step is taken in a direction that leads away from it..

What would the world look like if we all had a highly developed intuition? There would be no room for falsehood. Suffering might be avoided and people would live in trust instead of fear. Developing your own intuitive sense is not only personally beneficial, but for the greater good of all.
